Deadline for
submission of abstracts : May 31, 2006
The Scientific Committee invites delegates
to submit an abstract of original work for consideration
of presentation during the Joint Meeting of RCST-ISS/SIC
2006 to be held in July 7-10, 2006.. Abstracts should cover
various areas on topics in clinical studies, basic investigations
etc. The abstracts should constitute original researches,
but content many include portions of prior abstracts.
Abstracts Submission
Abstract submission is preferably by electronic
means but will also be accepted if produced on a CDR and
send by regular mail. Abstracts sent by fax will not be
accepted. Only Abstracts accompanied by paid registration
form will be considered.
Instructions
Please follow the full instructions given
below, otherwise your abstract will not be selected for
review. Following is the summary of guidelines:
1. All abstracts and presentations are
to be in English
2. Not longer than 400 words
3. 1-2 tables or graphs are allowed
4. Avoid abbreviations in both the title and text except
those commonly used. The body of the abstract should be
structured as follows:
- Sentence stating the purpose
of the study.
- A brief description of methods.
- A summary of results.
- A statement of conclusions reached.
- Use standard abbreviations.
Place non-standard abbreviations in parentheses after
the full word the first time it appears.
- Specify name and location of institution
where research was conducted.
5. The title of the abstract should be in brief, but long
enough to identify clearly the nature of the study and should
not exceed a total length of 3 lines. The title of the abstract
should be printed in Capital Letters name(s) of author(s)
is preceded by the initials (omit titles) and should not
be more than 5 authors.
6. The abstract should not have been published or presented
elsewhere before.
7. Participants should prepare their presentations on a
CDR using Microsoft Windows XP or 2000, Power Point programs.
Abstracts should be typed using Times New Roman Font size
10 pti., single space and fully justified.
8. Abstracts should be received by May31,
2006 together with full registration
fee.
9. Abstracts submission can be done via internet, at
either http://www.rcst-iss2006.org
or http://www.rcst2006.org
10. Abstracts will not be accepted unless they are submitted
according to the format and instructions given above.
11. All presentations must be done on CDR and must be given
to the AV Staff 24 hours prior to the presentation.
Free Papers
Free papers are allocated 8minute presentation
time followed by a 2 minute discussion period.
Posters
Poster size is 90 cm in width x 120 cm in height.
Audio-Visual Presentation
Authors are requested to submit the abstract
of their film electronically and send a copy of their film
for review to the Congress Secretariat. The film should
be essentially technical movies and not longer than 20 minutes,
in VCD format. Live narration by the principal surgeon is
a requirement of participation. Avoid time consuming sequences
and indicate clearly the view that is being shown, e.g.
surgeon's view, overhead view, or view from the patient's
head. Should an author wish to report results of series,
the film itself should be shortened to 10 minutes. Label
the film with the presentation title of the abstract as
submitted electronically and number given when the abstract
is submitted electronically. The asacongress2005 Secretariat
should receive films by May 20, 2005. at the latest.
GSK Award
(Only Local paticipants are eligible)
1. Three awards of Bht 20,000 each
2. Be the first author of the paper.
3. Must be unpublished work not previously presented at
a major (national or international) scientific meeting.
4. All abstracts must reach the Congress Secretariat for
evaluation and judgment by the Scientific committee not
later than May 15, 2006.
5. If selected, final draft or full text should be sent
to the Congress Secretariat not later than May 31, 2006.
6. Presentation should be done according to the time and
place allocated by the the Scientific Committee.
7. Presentation is in Oral form.
Resident Award
(Only Local paticipants are eligible)
1. The awards consist of three awards
of Bht 5000, Bht 3000 and Bht 2000 each. Institution the
resident belongs to will also receive the same amount. However,
the committee might skip any of these awards should it consider
that the quality does not reach certain standard. The decision
of the committee will be considered absolute final.
2. Abstract should be sent to the congress secretariat for
evaluation not later than May
31, 2006. The full text paper must accompany
the abstract but will not be printed in the Congress handbook.
3. Owner of the presentation should present according to
time and place allocated by the Scientific Committee.
4. Each presenter can submit at most 2 papers for this contest.
It should be understood that not all the papers submitted
will be accepted for presentation. The first author will
be notified about the result of committee's decision prior
to the Congress date.
5. Only those papers that are submitted with full text paper
in the format ready for publication in standard medical
journal will be considered for presentation. Failure to
do so will automatically exclude the paper from consideration.
6. Presentation should be in oral form in allocated time
of 8 minutes followed by 2 minutes discussion period.
7. Presenter should be a residentand the research work should
have been prepared during his residency training period
and has never been published before this presentation. Each
paper submitted must be accompanied by a letter of recommendation
from his or her training program director.
