The President
Royal College of Surgeons of Thailand
(RCST)
Dear
Friends and Colleagues,
On behalf of the Royal College of Surgeons of Thailand , it
is my great honour and pleasure to welcome you to the joint
meeting of the Annual Meeting of the Royal College of Surgeons
of Thailand (RCST) and the International Society of Surgery
(ISS/SIC) to be held in Pattaya , Thailand from July 7-10,
2006.
Despite
the unexpected outbreak of SARS in 2003 which unfortunately
made the cancellation of the International Surgical Week (ISW
2003) in Bangkok inevitable, the long-lasting friendship between
RCST and ISS/SIC and its commitment made the reestablishment
of the joint meeting a mission to be accomplished. Leaders
of both societies agreed to strengthen the relationship and
revive a joint meeting between the two societies in 2006.
President
of ISS/SIC, Professor J Rudiger Siewert kindly accepted our
invitation and joining hand with him several world renowned
speakers to share their expertise with the RCST members.
The
importance of this meeting cannot be overemphasized. The RCST
and ISS/SIC mission is to connect surgeons from different
parts of the world, from developing countries and developed
countries, from surgeons of different specialties and to provide
practicing surgeons with the most up-to-date information on
current surgical developments. The current pace of new development
in surgical sciences and demand of the community at large
make it the duty of every surgeon to keep up to date.
Our
Local Organizing Committee and our ISS/SIC counterpart have
put a lot of efforts to bring up first class meeting that
fits the goal of our societies and audiences.
Once
again I look forward to welcoming you all to join this meeting,
exchange ideas, update knowledge and to the same extent foster
our relationship. Also I hope that in your spare time you
will be able to enjoy some of the many delights Pattaya has
to offer.
With
warm regards,
Vithya Vathanophas , MD.
