Colleagues and Friends
The
Pediatric Society of Thailand, the Royal College of Pediatricians
of Thailand and the Pediatric Nurses Society of Thailand will
be hosting the 11th Asian Congress of Pediatrics and the 1st Asian
Congress on Pediatric Nursing at the Sofitel Central Plaza Hotel
and the Bangkok Convention Center in Bangkok, Thailand on November
2-7, 2003. The congress is under the auspices of the Association
of Pediatric Society of the South East Asian Region (APSSEAR)
and the International Pediatric Association (IPA). The theme of
the Congress is "Towards the Unity for the Quality of Child
Health".
On behalf of the Organizing Committee,
it gives me great pleasure to invite all pediatricians, child-health
specialists, experts and nurses from all Asian countries and the
rest of the world to come and participate in this congress. The
scientific program will cover a great number of important topics
and provide participants with a comprehensive and in-depth update
on pediatrics and pediatric nursing. We are quite certain that,
all participants can join and profit from discussing the latest
approaches of child care and future perspective in many important
fields of Pediatrics and Child Health.
Further more we also organized a
pre-congress workshop on Pediatric AIDS and a Satellite session
during the congress on Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever. These two infectious
diseases are still serious threats to the health of the children
and their families in our Asian region and the world. Thousands
of children still die needlessly as a result of these diseases.
Our concerns and efforts to promote changes are there, but not
sufficiently effective. We must strive together to influence political
leaders and International agencies for their awareness and more
effective support.
The Congress will provide a wonderful
opportunity for us to share the latest knowledge and experiences.
In addition to a stimulating scientific
program, we also have a pleasure in organizing what we hope will
be an enjoyable social program which include visits to Thai temples,
palaces and museums and opportunities to experience the many fascinating
facets of the Thai culture.
We are delighted to be hosting these
Congresses and look forward to seeing you in Bangkok.
