GUIDELINES FOR PREPARING
AN ABSTRACT

• Abstracts of the study relevant to
infectious diseases and antimicrobial
agents are welcome.


• Abstract must be in English.

• Abstract must be a complete study.

• Abstract must not have been presented
at any previous Western Pacific
Congress on Chemotherapy and
Infectious Diseases.

• The contents of an abstract must
include the following components.


Title: The title should be concise
and typed in bold.


Authors and Institutions:

        All responsible authors should
        be listed in full names. The
        degree and position of the
        author are not required. The
        corresponding author should
        be underlined.


Background: Describe a rational
        leading to conducting the
        present study.


Objective: State the main objective of
        the study or hypothesis tested.

Methods: Briefly describe the design
        of the study and how it was
        conducted.


Result (s): Present the main result (s).
        The statement of “The study
        results will be presented” is
        not acceptable.
        which will be available either on a
        CD-ROM or on paper.


Conclusion: State only the conclusion
        (s) that is (are) directly
        supported by the results.


GUIDELINES FOR SUBMITTING
AN ABSTRACT

• In submitting the abstracts, the
authors also grant the 9th WPCCID
Organizing Committee the right to
publish the abstracts in the 9th
WPCCID proceedings both in hard
and electronic form.

• Abstracts cannot be submitted by fax.

• Acknowledgment of receipt of
abstract submission will be sent via
e-mail of the corresponding author.
If the abstract submitter does not
receive an acknowledgment of
receipt of abstract, the submission
is not completed and needs to be
re-submitted.

• Notification of acceptance or rejection
of the abstracts will be e-mailed by
September 15, 2004. Only the presenting
author or corresponding author will
receive the e-mail concerning the
abstract and is responsible for
informing all co-authors of the status
of the abstract.


All abstracts must be received by
August 15, 2004.

SUBMITTING ABSTRACT BY POST:
• Fill out the abstract submission form.

• Type or print the abstract in the blank
box (size 13.5 cm x 16.5 cm.) in the
abstract submission form.

• check the box of young investigator
award if you wish to apply for it.

• Send one hard copy of the completed
abstract submission form and
a
3.5" diskette containing all
information in the completed
abstract submission form
by mail
to Secretariat Office.


• Type the abstract single-spaced using
Times New Roman 12-point type.

• Table may be printed in 10-point
type provided they are readable.

• It is the author’s responsibility to
submit a correct abstract. Any errors
in spelling, grammar, or scientific
fact will be reproduced as typed by
the author.

• The abstract must not exceed 300
words excluding title, authors and
institutions.

• The presenting author’s name,
institution, address, telephone and
fax numbers, and e-mail address
must be provided.

• The presenting author or corresponding
author must register the
congress. Unregistered presenters
will not be allowed to present. Coauthors
who wish to attend the
conference must likewise register.

• Abstracts will be considered for
presentation on methodology,
relevance and importance.

• The instructions for poster preparation
will be sent to the presenters
whose the abstracts are accepted
within September 30, 2004.

• The accepted abstract will appear in
its full form in the Abstract Book,
which will be available either on a
CD-ROM or on paper.

WESTERN PACIFIC SOCIETY OF
CHEMOTHERAPY YOUNG
INVESTIGATOR AWARD

The organizing committee invite participants
to apply for Western Pacific Society
of Chemotherapy Young Investigator
Award. The eligible criteria for applying
for this award are
• Age =35 years
• Resident of Australia, China,
Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea,
Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore,
Taiwan or Thailand
• Submission of a high quality abstract

Each award includes an exemption of
registration fee, economy class round trip
airfare and accommodation during the
meeting period.

The participant who wishes to apply
for this award should indicate one’s
intention by checking the box in the
abstract submission form

This award will be given with a limited
number on competitive basis of the
quality of the submitted abstract.


The award announcement will be
made prior to August 31, 2004.
