On behalf of the Congress Committees and the
Western Pacific Society of Chemotherapy, we cordially invite you to
participate in the 9th Western Pacific Congress on Chemotherapy and
Infectious Diseases (9th WPCCID) which will be held during December
1 - 5, 2004 in Bangkok, Thailand.
Over the past few
years, several infectious disease problems have originated in the
western pacific region and spread globally. Severe acute respiratory
syndrome (SARS) is one example of this phenomenon. SARS has had an
enormous impact on public health, the economy and society. Therefore
the theme of this congress is entitled “Regional
Infectious Disease Problems of Global Concern”. The congress
will feature reviews and updates on infectious diseases of regional
and global concern as well as strategies for surveillance, containment
of the spread, early detection, diagnosis, treatment, control and
prevention. In
addition to emerging infectious diseases, the congress will address
the problems of re-emerging infectious diseases, tropical infectious
diseases and anti-microbial resistance prevalent in the western pacific
region. New technology for diagnosis, treatment and prevention of
regional and worldwide infectious diseases will also be a focus of
the congress. We would like to encourage the participants to submit
research abstracts on infectious diseases and anti-microbial agents
for presentation in the meeting.
Queen Sirikit National
Convention Center in Bangkok has been chosen as the congress venue
because of its proven capacity to host large conferences. The official
congress hotels are located nearby the congress venue and the participants
can reach the congress venue conveniently by taking the sky-train
and underground transportation to the station situated inside the
convention center.
Participants should
also take this opportunity to explore Bangkok, the City of Angels,
as well as other cities, enjoying the unique culture, wonderful natural
vistas, and hospitable people in the area.
We look forward to
meeting you in Bangkok in December 2004. |
